When I woke up this morning I had no idea today was March 15th. It's my onomastico, which is the day of my name, in Italy we celebrate it on the day of the saint that has your name, which in my case is: St. Louise de Marillac, a beautiful figure of the France of the XV century. You can read about her, about how she dedicated her life first to her husband and then to the poor and the orphans. "Certainly it is the great secret of the spiritual life to abandon to God all that we love by abandoning ourselves to all that He wills", this is what she wrote.. to trust in God completely, I wish I could do that.
So, to celebrate my day I decided to make Cream Puffs, or Choux if you want to speak French like Louise, or Bigne like my Nonna used to call them. It was my first try and I have to say it was not hard at all. They came out perfect and delicious! I filled the choux with pastry cream, one of the recipes I could do with my eyes closed, and sprinkled them with powder sugar. Great dessert and afternoon snack... yummi!
Oh my, how I miss you and the lovely smells from your kitchen! I didn't realize that was your Saint's day! Happy Santa Luisa Day!
